WEATHER
Though we have had fantastic weather all through the month of October, this is a fall camping trip on the first weekend of November and as a result the evenings will likely be cold. Please plan with this in mind. Additionally, weather can change abruptly which may involve rain. Please prepare for the possibility of an unplanned rainstorm while we are camping.
We will be monitoring the weather throughout the week, specifically for rain this weekend. If it becomes clear that there is a likelihood of rain, we may need to reschedule this event. Though some of us may have extensive camping experience, some of our attendees may have very little or no camping experience, and first-time camping in a storm is not ideal for anyone, especially children. In short, a last-minute cancellation may result due to our team’s judgement about the weather.
CURRENT FORCAST FOR THE WEEKEND OF 11/2 to 11/3
I will start sending updates mid-week.
EQUIPMENT
Note, if you have the following equipment and clothing then you are in good shape. Please pull it out this week to confirm that it is functioning and ready to go. If you do not have some or all this equipment, please plan to acquire it. Not only will you need it for this weekend but will likely need it for future camping trips. If there are any large pieces of equipment like a tent or sleeping back that you may not have, please let us know, we might be able to find a loaner for you.

TRANSPORTATION
Transportation will be by personal family car. We will initially meet at Prince of Peace Lutheran church on Saturday, November 2 at 10 am. See address above. We will try and consolidate as many people into as few cars as possible per Cub Scout safety rules. Ideally, we would bring as few cars as possible. Note, the camp is only about 10 or 15 mins away from the church so if needed we can do a couple of trips if we must. We will all caravan to the SCCPOA camp site, unload our equipment, setup camp and have lunch. We will then caravan to Sanborn State Park, 5 mins away, for a pack 2-hour hike. Please note, each car will need to pay for county park parking which is $6.00. Afterward we will return to camp. The following day after we pack up and clean the camp site we will reverse caravan back to Prince of Peace Church by 12 noon.
